El mango es la diferencia frente a una fusta económica. Está revestido y trabajado con relieve para que la mano no resbale, con un remate en la parte superior y una correa de muñeca que evita que la pieza se escape con un movimiento fuerte. Ese agarre es lo que da control real.

Cuidados

Limpiar la paleta y el mango con un paño humedecido en agua tibia y jabón neutro, y secar bien. No sumergir ninguna parte de la pieza: el agua endurece y agrieta el cuero. Un acondicionador para cuero cada cierto tiempo mantiene la paleta y el mango flexibles y evita que se resequen; en un clima húmedo como el de Panamá conviene airear la pieza de vez en cuando para prevenir moho. Guardar colgada por la correa, con la vara recta y la paleta plana, en lugar fresco y seco y lejos de la luz directa y del calor. Revisar antes de cada uso las costuras de la paleta, su unión con la vara, el estado del revestimiento del mango y la correa; no usar la pieza si algo está flojo, agrietado o descosido.

Care Instructions

Clean the tip and grip with a cloth dampened in warm water and mild soap, and dry well. Do not submerge any part of the piece: water hardens and cracks leather. Leather conditioner now and then keeps the tip and grip supple and prevents drying out; in a humid climate like Panama's, air the piece occasionally to prevent mildew. Store hanging by the loop, with the shaft straight and the tip flat, in a cool, dry place away from direct light and heat. Before each use, inspect the tip stitching, its join to the shaft, the condition of the grip wrap and the loop; don't use the piece if anything is loose, cracked or coming unstitched.
